I had purchased this sequel to Ratha's Creature a few years ago and never had the chance to read it. I found it recently and peeked at the beginning and before I knew it, I had finished the entire book. It was thrilling from beginning to end with interesting characters, both new and familiar. I love the new evolution of the Named and their involvement with the little lemur-type creatures. It was really easy to enjoy and a great sequel to a good book and a great start to a series.

Certainly if you like anything Clare Bell writes, especially Ratha's Creature, this is worth picking up. Also, it's worth picking up all the other books in the series...which is something I still have to do. I can't wait until the graphic novels become available. I'd love to collect those too.

I love this series. And I am 62 so this is not just a YA book. The charactors are complex and you go to know and love them. I hope the series continues!
This is part of the Ratha's creature trilogy. Both of my eleven year old girls love this series. They also like the author Erin Hunter and other animal adventure books.
Clan Ground is the second book in Clare Bell's Named series. It is a fantastic sequel to Ratha's Creature. At the time this series was written, I had never read anything of its like. Since then, I've noticed some other series in the Young Adult section that seem to have the same sort of premise, but Clare Bell did if first and she did it best!

I highly recommend this series, as it tops my list of best Young Adult books ever written. Luckily for potential new readers, they are now back in print!
I liked the first book, Ratha's Creature, but was a little disappointed in how rushed it was, and lack of character descriptions.
This one, Clan Ground, was much better. Not quite so rushed. I found myself so into the story, I was actually getting angry with some character decisions. I'm now on the Third book, and I plan to read all of them! These are great!
My daughter has read and loved the Warriors books (Erin Hunter) the Guardians of Ga'Hoole series, all of the Redwall Books, and a few other random series starring brave animals. She was looking for something new along the same lines, and we found the "Named" books for her. She read the first book and instantly bought this second book (didn't know she could do that directly from the !) and loved it too. Now our house is filling up with drawings of Ratha and the other cats of these clans.
I don't know what age this book was written for but let me say I am well over 40. I ordered this book because of its cover and knew nothing about the author or the story. When it arrived I noticed it was the second in a series so I ordered the first book (Ratha's Creature)and put this one aside. I have been hooked for several years on the Warrior serices by Erin Hunter, and this is equal to it with a lot less neames to remember. It is just a great story that keeps you turning the pages until you are finished. I have the next two books already and have pre-ordered the fifth one. I just hope the author keeps them coming like the Warrior series.
