Forever hidden has quite a story about Sydney Davies retired supermodel turned CEO of Sydney International chief designer of her own clothing line. Her headquarters are located in NYC. However, her heart is in her hometown with her family in Keeneston, KY. She arrives home from a business trip and heads to The Blossom Cafe when she arrives it's then the town gossips advice her great-grandmother Mrs Ruth Wyatt has taken a turn for the worse. Sydney is with her before she dies and gives her a treasure map of a home in Atlanta. After the funeral she drives to Atlanta not knowing what to expect. She's equipped with shovel, map, keys, documents and flashlights and begins digging. However, Mrs Wyatt never told her she rents the house to a very eligible bachelor Deacon McKnight. They hit immediately and sparks fly. They get involved in a sex trafficking ring(through Deacon's work as a P.I.) Sydney finds similarity with the modeling underground and pulls together her contracts, family with close friends determined find the girls.
Along the way the treasure is found, Sydney and Deacon fall in love. McKnight passes the family test.
The ending is sweet. The author Kathleen Brooks has written an uplifting ending.
I don't read Romance Novels, I reminded myself as I read the blurb on the first book in the Bluegrass Brothers series; but I lived in the Bluegrass area near Lexington, so for the price I would give it a shot. After reading the first book I wrote the author and told her "I do not read Romance Novels but I tolerated the mushy scenes for sake of the bigger plot which satisfied my macho side". Her response was that her dad had said the same thing. She allows her characters to develop as the story lines develops and you wish you knew these people--and glad that you know people of which they remind you. I finished the series and felt like I had been back home in the Bluegrass. The setting is outside of Lexington (west of-- in my mind), and I drove those roads. the Matriarch and Patriarch of the series are a bit older than me, but the kids and their peers could be mine. Predictably the kids are good looking, smart, and motivated. but what makes the series work is that bad guys exist and threaten their way of life. As a Lee Child, Robert Ludlum, WEB Griffin, etc reader, Kathleen's plots are intense but lack the sub -plots of the more complicated writers; but somehow you want her stories and characters to be real and not limited to fiction.

Then along came the "Forever Bluegrass" Series. I read the first one--the kids are grown up and are now the main characters-one book at a time....
I thought perhaps I would not continue the series--first book was okay but it was not "back home". I forgot that I had pre-ordered the second book, SO I read it. For me it got off to a slow start, but when it took off, it soared. The intensity was powerful, and even knowing that good would triumph, you get caught up in the injustice, the pain and suffering of bad people hurting good people. I'm back on track for book #3 of this series. The Women of Power series--not my thing; but as for "Forever Bluegrass"--you go girl.
